Joao Fonseca vs Ben Shelton Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP National Bank Open

Both of these players have made it to round four of Montreal's National Bank Open without dropping a set. Fifth seed Ben Shelton takes on 22nd-seeded Joao Fonseca for a place in the last eight. Shelton is 17 places above his opponent in the rankings and our prediction is he will win this match.

Whoever wins will be up against either 13th seed Jakub Mensik or unseeded Botic van de Zandschulp next.

Ben Shelton has already made it to three ATP Tour outdoor hard court quarter-finals in 2026. The most recent last eight appearance for him was in Washington last week. He has continued his good form in this Masters tournament in Montreal.

Wins have come against Jenson Brooksby and 31st seed Zizou Bergs, both in straight sets.

The one previous match between these two players was won on clay by Shelton in three sets in April of this year.

Joao Fonseca finally gets into double figures in terms of outdoor hard court matches played in 2026. He has  6-3 record but is yet to reach a quarter-final. He has equaled his best performance of a fourth round at Indian Wells. 

Wins this week have come against qualifier Stefanos Tsitsipas and ninth seed Casper Ruud.

No sets have been dropped but two tie-breaks have been played.
