Japan will look to continue their excellent form in Week 3 of the 2026 Volleyball Nations League when they face Canada on Thursday afternoon. Ryujin Nippon are still unbeaten in this competition, and our prediction is that they will be far too strong for this opponent in this match. 

Japan has been the benchmark in the 2026 Nations League. After beating Italy 3-2 on Wednesday, they are now the only team that has yet to taste defeat in this competition. 

Yuki Ishikawa has been excellent for Ryujin Nippon in this tournament. He has scored 126 points in nine games, which sees him currently sat in ninth place in the leading scorer standings. 

Japan are now on a 10-match win streak across all competitions and four of their last six games against this opponent. 

Meanwhile, Canada has struggled massively in this competition. They have lost eight of their nine matches to date and are 16th in the standings, only above Cuba and China. 

Xander Ketrzynski is the only Canadian player to surpass 100 points in this tournament (106). Jackson Howe has been a monster on defence - he leads the 2026 VNL with 35 block points. 

Canada is on a seven-match losing streak, but they did beat this opponent 3-0 at the World Championships last year.
