The semi-finals of the Netball World Cup 2023 will be played out this Saturday, and in the second match of the day, we will see Jamaica take on Australia. Jamaica will be looking to make history by reaching the final of this competition for the first time in their history. They come into this match as one of the most in-form sides in the competition and off the back of a thumping 59-48 win over the reigning world champions New Zealand which followed an even bigger win against Trinidad and Tobago. Jamaica were drawn into Group C, which featured Sri Lanka, Wales and the hosts South Africa, and managed to end the group stages with a perfect record of three wins in three matches. They managed an impressive 247 goals, which was the second-highest in the competition while conceding just 114. Having seen their opponents lose their last match, Jamaica will fancy their chances of pulling off one of the biggest upsets of the tournament in this one. 

Meanwhile, Australia are at risk of coming undone at the worst possible time after they saw their 11-match winning streak brought to an end by England on Friday. They led the match for a large part but faded toward the end and eventually came up one point short. Like their opponents, Australia topped their group with a perfect record, winning each of their group-stage matches by a margin of at least 40 points. Australia have been the number-one ranked side in the world for many years and have won virtually every major honour there is. However, their one-point loss to New Zealand at the last World Cup will still be firmly present in their minds, and they will be determined to see that that doesn’t happen again. Several past and present Australian players have already mentioned that Jamaica are the form side in the tournament, and the world number one's will need to be at their absolute best, or they could find themselves contesting a bronze medal. Australia are the favourites according to the bookmakers.
