Iceland are set to host France in the Women’s Nations League as they seek to stay in League A. France have already secured the top spot in Group A1, so third-place Iceland have all to play for. We have the prediction for this match below.
Hosts Iceland are hoping to finally win a game in this group. They will need it to possibly avoid going through a relegation playoff or even automatic relegation.
This group is really delicately poised, as any of the three nations behind France can finish bottom. Iceland was guilty of squandering their lead last time out, in a 1-1 draw with Norway. However, they earlier showed their battling instincts in a 3-3 draw with Switzerland.
France are coming from a 4-0 win against Switzerland, and this is a dead-rubber affair. They’ve already taken as much as they can from the group and are now braced for the finals.
The French have posted five wins in five, placing themselves 10 points clear of their closest challenger. So far in this group, Iceland have only lost to France.
As France seeks to complete a double over their hosts, they’ll also be aware this is the only opponent that breached their defence. After France, Iceland are the second-highest scorer in Group A2.
