Match 15 of the ICC T20 World Cup will see Sri Lanka face off against Bangladesh on Saturday morning. These two currently sit fourth and fifth in Group D, though Bangladesh have not played their first match as yet. Sri Lanka entered this tournament as the side fancied to join South Africa in qualifying to the next round. However, they made the worst possible start to the competition, losing in poor fashion to the Proteas in game one by six wickets and 22 balls to spare. The Lions won the toss and elected to bat but were bundled out for a paltry 77 runs in 19.1 overs, with none of their batsmen managing to score over 20 runs. They did look better with ball in hand, though, led by Wanindu Hasaranaga, who took 2/22 in 3.2 overs, while Dasun Shanaka posted a very impressive 1/6 in three overs. Undoubtedly, concerns are growing for Sri Lanka, who were also unconvincing in their warmup matches, where they managed a victory over Ireland but were beaten fairly comprehensively by the Netherlands at the end of last month. 

Meanwhile, Bangladesh will be making their first appearance in this competition and have been dubbed the potential dark horse in this group to sneak a top-two finish. They have a squad bursting with talent, including the number-one ranked all-rounder in the world Shakib Al Hasan. However, the Tigers' preparation leading up to the tournament was not ideal, as they suffered a fairly hefty loss to India at the start of June and were beaten 2-1 in a three-match series against co-hosts United States last month. These two sides are no strangers to each other, having faced off 16 times in the past. During that time, Sri Lanka have been the dominant side, winning 11 matches, including a 2-1 series win in March this year.
