Last season was a strange one for Manchester United. They struggled early on but a change of coach eventually saw them finish third in the Premier League. The Reds begin this campaign with an away trip to newly-promoted Hull City. There does look to be a big gap in talent and experience between the two squads and the Tigers will do well to survive. Our prediction therefore is a win for Manchester United with them leading at half and full time.
Michael Carrick has deservedly been given the Old Trafford job on a full-time basis. What can they achieve this season, especially with a busier schedule due to their being back in European football?
Hull City won promotion back to the Premier League via the play-offs. They needed some good results in the final weeks of the main season to squeeze into those play-offs in sixth place. They face a tough battle this season to avoid an immediate return to the Championship. They managed to win promotion last season despite having a less than impressive home record, they probably can't afford to repeat that form this season.

They ended last season with a run of 20 points from their last ten league games.
Hull had a real battle to win promotion.

Hull & Manchester United Squad Analysis
As the new season gets underway, the last thing that newly-promoted Hull City needs is an injury crisis. That is what they have though and it's going to make this opening game against Manchester United even more difficult.
Injuries galore for the Tigers.
Key players such as goalkeeper Jack Butland, Eliiot Matazo, Charlie Hughes and Darko Gyabi have all been ruled out. Hull will also be giving fitness tests to both Matty Jacob and Cody Drameh.
Their home form last season was a problem with seven matches being lost. They will look for goals from Ollie McBurnie. He scored 18 last season and when playing for Sheffield United in the Premier League in the 23/24 season, he scored six times.
Manchester United have some tough games in September, but begin with this trip to Hull City and then a home fixture against another newly-promoted side, Ipswich Town. Getting off to a strong start is so important after failing to do so in recent years.
They have strengthened their squad with signings such as Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans. Marcus Rashford is back at Old Trafford and so far they have managed to retain Bruno Fernandes who had a record number of Premier League assists last season.
The Red Devils will be without Matthijs de Ligt and Manuel Ugarte. Fitness tests loom for Mason Mount and Karl Darlow. Benjamin Sesko will want to build on a mixed first season at Old Trafford and he could be on the subs bench.
