Holger Rune has reached this semi-final by beating Marton Fucsovics (in straight sets) and Tomas Martin Etcheverry. The latter saw him lose the first set on a tie-break but win the next two for the loss of seven games.
All five of the wins Rune has had over Humbert were on hard courts (two indoors). Twice he's beaten Humbert this year with wins at Indian Wells and then in Shanghai earlier this month. Rune is now tenth in the live rankings and 11th in the ATP Race.
Ugo Humbert is still unbeaten in indoor hard court tournaments this year. February of this year saw him win the Marseille title and he’s going well in Stockholm eight months later. The Frenchman has so far defeated two unseeded Italian players.
After a straight sets victory over Matteo Berrettini, he had a tougher time against Lorenzo Sonego. The first set was lost on a tie-break but Humbert won the next two 6-0 6-3. He’s now 24th in the live rankings.
