Hapoel Tel-Aviv and Bayern Munich renew their rivalry in Round 1 of the 2026-27 EuroLeague at Arena 8888 Sofia on Thursday. Hapoel Tel-Aviv have stumbled in their recent competitive outings and are likely to struggle against a Bayern Munich side that have been difficult to put away on the road in the EuroLeague, hence our prediction in favor of the away team. 

Dimitrios Itoudis' Hapoel Tel-Aviv have done little to dispel doubts about their chances as the EuroLeague gets underway. They cleared all four of their friends ahead of the new season but were brought down to earth in their first competitive fixture of the season, suffering a heavy 101–83 defeat to Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Israeli Super Cup final. 

The Reds have now lost four of their last five competitive games, including a 3–1 series defeat to Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Super League final series. Can they bounce back in their first EuroLeague fixture of the season?

Bayern Munich rounded off their pre-season friends with an eight-point defeat to Hapoel Tel Aviv. However, writing off Anton Gavel's charges ahead of this contest could prove costly. 

The German giants won last season's EuroLeague visit to Hapoel Tel Aviv and have made a flying start to their domestic championship campaign by demolishing Bamberg 108–72 on Sunday. They picked up three wins in their final five EuroLeague away games last season.
