The top two in the Bundesliga II clash as leaders Arminia Bielefeld travel to Hamburger SV. Bielefeld go into this game with a healthy seven-point lead over their opponents. The top two win automatic promotion to the Bundesliga and there’s also a seven-point gap to Stuttgart in third. Bielfeld have won 14 of their 26 league games with only two defeats. Their last two games have both ended in a draw though, making it ten for the season. Their first game back since the league was suspended, saw them held to a 1-1 home daw by VFL Onsbruck. They took the lead in the 17th minute but conceded a 94th minute penalty and missed out on the three points. Only Dermstadt and Sandhausen have drawn more. They won’t want Hamburger closing the gap on then, that is for sure. Away form is good with eight wins and just one defeat.

Hamburger SV have won 12 of their 26 league matches and are unbeaten in the last two. That’s improved form after suffering two losses and seeing Bielefeld further open up the gap between them. They are only above Stuttgart on goal difference so they face a battle to get automatic promotion rather than end up in the play-offs. This is their second season out of the Bundesliga and won’t want a repeat of last season. They were in the automatic promotion places but lost three of their last four games and didn’t even make the play-offs. Last weekend saw them draw 2-2 at Greuther Furth, they came from behind to take a 2-1 lead but like Bielefeld, they conceded a second-half injury time goal to end up drawing. Home form is strong with nine wins and only two losses. Both of those defeats have come in the last five played to the sides fourth and fifth in the league. A bet on a draw looks the one to make here.
