Two nations marking returns to the world stage are set to face off as Haiti meets Scotland in Group C of the tournament. Winning three of their last five matches swings our prediction to Scotland’s favor, as Haiti parade one win in four.
Haiti are listed among the underdogs at the 2026 World Cup, but Sebastian Migne’s charges will not be putting a lot of their focus on that. They aren’t the only ones yet to win a World Cup game after a previous appearance, but that will be a stat they aim to halt. In their previous appearance here, in 1974, Les Grenadiers lost all three group games.
This time they come better prepared and are used to playing away from home, having done so in their qualifying matches. Scotland are returning after last featuring in the 1998 World Cup. This will be the Scots’ ninth appearance at the World Cup, but they are only seeking a fifth win at this stage. They lost 12 of their 23 previous matches and drew seven times.

Haiti - Scotland: Form Analysis
While Haiti’s targets at the World Cup are clearly to end a winless run at the global stage, not many will be backing them to do it. That is, considering the nations they are set to face in Group C. They are the lowest ranking in this pool, and facing Scotland, who are 40 places ahead, represents their likeliest chance at winning a World Cup match.
In the run up to the tournament, they fell 2-1 to Peru, failing to build on their 4-0 win over New Zealand earlier. That was their second defeat in four matches, leaving Les Grenadiers with one win in that period. There’s a lot to improve on, having also scored twice and conceded 14 in their only showing at the World Cup.
Scotland and Haiti will also meet Brazil and Morocco in Group C.
Scotland are also eyeing a first; they have never been past the group stages at a FIFA World Cup tournament. Placed third lowest in ranking in this group, the European nation will want to view this as their best opportunity. Their overall WC record after nine appearances reads four wins and 12 defeats in 23 matches.
They topped a group that had Denmark in a remarkable qualifying run and come here on six wins in their latest nine games. The UEFA side scored four in their last competitive game and is coming here having also netted four in each of the last two friendlies. The most recent was a 4-0 win against Bolivia.

Haiti & Scotland Squad Analysis
John McGinn has been adorably compared to the iconic Zinedine Zidane by Aston Villa and Scotland fans. He may lack in pedigree compared to Zidane, but the midfielder has been producing the goods consistently. He comes to the World Cup fresh off leading Aston Villa to the Europa League title, and his confidence must be sky-high.
In his last five matches for club and country, the midfielder has five goal contributions. McGinn isn’t operating as Scott McTominay’s shadow; rather, the two are complementing each other. The Napoli midfielder is coming off a good personal season, scoring 10 goals and assisting three in Serie A. He got key goals in the qualifiers and also one against Bolivia in their final friendly match.
Haiti will rely on manager Sebastien Migne’s experience, coming to his 12th international tournament.
Haiti are back on the world stage after 52 years and will have a bunch of hungry players looking to rewrite history. Going by their status, there is a chance Les Grenadiers will put more focus in defence. In that respect, Carlens Arcus will be looking to carry on with his superb form for Angers in Ligue 1.
The 29-year-old right-back had three assists in the French top flight and also got one in the 4-0 win against New Zealand recently. Skipper Johny Placide in goal will also seek an extension of a good season in Ligue 2. Featuring for SC Bastia, the keeper managed eight clean sheets in 23 matches and saved two penalties.

Our Haiti vs Scotland Prediction
Haiti have no choice but to stay defensively compact. Sebastian Migne’s sides are known for that, and his current side has three clean sheets in six outings. However, extending the same against this free-scoring Scotland side will not be a walk in the park.
Scotland scored eight times in their two warmup games and are coming off six wins in their last nine games. The European nation is facing the group’s lowest-ranking team, and Scotland will surely unleash their firepower here. In the end, our prediction for Haiti v Scotland is that Scotland wins.
Haiti vs Scotland Alternative Predictions
BTTS
While Scotland come here as favorites, they can’t afford to underrate Haiti, especially with Les Grenadiers’ scoring form. In Haiti’s last five competitive matches, they failed to score just once. They scored three goals twice in that run.
On the other hand, Scotland also bring into this game a good scoring run. In competitive action, they netted in each of the last five. However, they conceded in their last four such matches. With that in mind, we will be going for BTTS in our second prediction.
