Chakhtior Soligorsk and Gorodeia both made a disappointing start to their new Belarus Premier League seasons. For Chakhtior, the side that finished third in the table last season (10 points behind the champions), they began their new campaign with a home loss to Torpedo BelAZ Zhodino. That was even more disappointing considering they had just played that team twice in the Belarus Cup and won on both occasions. They so nearly got a draw in that game though, losing to a 90th minute goal. Away league form was good last season with eight victories and only four defeats, though they only won one of their last four.

Gorodeya ended last season in seventh place, six points behind their opponents. Their new season also began with a defeat as they lost 1-0 at Vibetsk thanks to a first-half own goal. They had won their previous three pre-season friendlies before that opening league loss. Gorodeya won seven home league games last season but lost five. Only two of their last six home league games have been won though. Chakhtior were unlucky to lose to that last minute goal and can get their first league win of the season here.
