Napoli will launch another Serie A title hunt with an away game at Genoa on Saturday. The former champions had a frustrating season and will hope for a better turnout this time. Winning eight of their last nine Serie A openers, our prediction will back Napoli here.
This marks a fourth straight Serie A campaign for Genoa. They will be praying for a better start than last season when they managed zero wins in the opening nine outings.
The arrival of manager Daniele De Rossi was a game changer, as 10 wins and 11 draws were enough to secure survival. They finished with 41 points, seven above the drop zone.
Napoli fell short of their targets by not successfully defending their league title. Now they will go on the quest for a third title in five years.
The last four have alternated between them and Inter Milan. Last season they finished 11 points adrift of Inter. They dropped points in nine of their 19 away matches, and much of their fate was decided at that point.
That failure saw Antonio Conte replaced by Massimiliano Allegri, who has needed to offload a number of key players, including Romelu Lukaku.
Here they will be looking to extend a good run in season-opening matches, having won eight in their last nine campaigns.
