2024 runner-up Frances Tiafoe is again going well in the Cincinnati Open. Seeded tenth for this outdoor hard court tournament, he faces the seventh seed Holger Rune in the last 16. Here's our match prediction.
On his way to the final last year, Tiafoe beat Rune in three sets. Another close match looks likely between the pair this time around. Tiafoe has made it this far without dropping a set. A win over Roberto Carballes Baena was followed by a straight sets victory over 20th seed Ugo Humbert.
He's 17th in the live rankings and the winner of this match will play either Taylor Fritz or Terence Atmane in the last eight.
Holger Rune has also had two straight sets wins this week. Roman Safiullin and Alex Michelsen have been beaten but 47 games have been played with three sets going to either 7-5 or 7-6. Last year's match against Tiafoe also saw a tie-break played.
Rune is 11th in the live rankings and was the runner-up at Indian Wells this year. That's the only time in 2025 he's got past round four of a hard court tournament. There's not a great deal between these players but we tip Tiafoe to get the win.
