France vs Austria Prediction & Betting Tips - UEFA Nations League

France are going through a tough period and will be hoping for revival when they play host to Austria in League A, Group 1 of the UEFA Nations League. As the competition enters Match Day 5, France are bottom of the group with two points while Austria are third on four points. France are the Nations Cup holders but as things are, they will not be able to successfully defend their crown. It could get worse – relegation to League B is a possibility that will be confirmed if they lose this game. The world champions haven’t won any of their last four games, all being in the Nations League. In their last outing they fell 1-0 at home to Croatia, leaving them as the only side without a win in this group. They don’t have a clean sheet in the last four and their only win in five matches was in a friendly game against South Africa, who they thumped 5-0. Both teams have scored in three of France’s last five matches. Going into this game they will be without Karim Benzema, Paul Pogba and N’golo Kante, all key men.

Austria, just like France, haven’t done so well in their recent matches; they come into this game with one win in five matches and are winless in the last three. They drew 1-1 with France in their first meeting in this group but they edge France in having managed at least a win in their four matches in this group. They thrashed Croatia 3-0 away from home and will hope to mete the same on injury-ravaged France. Austria still have a mathematical chance of topping this group, though that remains unlikely, but one thing they’ll surely be playing for here, is to avoid relegation to League B. They haven’t been great defensively, conceding two or more in three of their last five matches and managing just one clean sheet in five games. Both teams have scored in three of Austria’s last five matches and they’ve only failed to score in one of the five.
