It's been an up and down week for France. Earlier in the week they had the joy of beating the USA in the quarter finals to dethrone the world champions. They were overjoyed at that win but knew it would count for little if they didn't go on to win the title. Their dreams faded and died in the semi-final when they lost by 14 points to Argentina. Now they have to dust themselves down and pick themselves up to battle Australia in the third and fourth place classification match.

The two countries met in the second group stage of this tournament. Australia won that match 100-98 but France led by four points after the third quarter. The Australians won the final quarter by six points to edge home. Another close match looks likely here and France can be backed to win on a +2.5 handicap.
