Fiorentina will look to extend their impressive record in UEFA two-legged knockouts as they host Celje in the second leg of the UEFA Conference League quarter-finals on Thursday. This match at the Stadio Artemio Franchi comes with our prediction of both teams scoring goals. The winner of this tie will face the winner of Real Betis vs Jagiellonia Bialystok in the semis.

La Viola carry a 2-1 lead from last week’s first leg, where goals in the 27th and 62nd minutes gave them a winning lead, although they conceded a 68th-minute penalty. They followed it with a 0-0 home draw against Parma in Serie A at the weekend, leaving them outside European qualification spots.

Fiorentina won nine of their ten previous UEFA quarter-finals, so the pedigree is there for the club. A draw here would be enough to progress, and they avoided defeat in eight of their last nine home matches in all competitions.

Celje are the first Slovenian side to play a European quarter-final, and they kept their hopes alive with a goal in the first leg. They followed it up with a 2-1 win at the weekend, making it five wins from the last six competitive fixtures.

With four wins out of five Conference League matches before the first leg, Celje can’t be counted out just yet.
