Iga Swiatek has booked her WTA Toronto semi-final slot where the seventh seed will face ninth seed Elina Svitolina. These two are well known foes, as they go into their eighth career meeting. Both players have dropped at least a set in five of their last 10 matches, and our prediction backs the same here.

This is the third meeting between the two players this year, and world No. 9 Svitolina will be gunning for a third straight win over Swiatek. In three sets, she overcame Alexandrova in the last round to reach her seventh semi-final of the season. 

A former Canadian Open winner, Svitolina is looking to add to this season’s Auckland and Rome titles. She is eighth in the live ranking.

Iga Swiatek will be looking to seize back control of this fixture with a fifth win over Svitolina. Two of her four previous wins were on hardcourts, and she will be confident of extending the same here.

The Pole had only reached the third round of the Canadian Open before this edition. She has compiled a 27-12 record, winning 16 matches on hardcourts.

The 25-year-old has only managed to progress past the semis once this season, and here she will be playing in her third of the season.

To get here, Swiatek had a powerful output in the quarters, seeing off Diana Shnaider in straights. Placed 10th in the live rank, Swiatek hopes to qualify for her second final.
