Third seed Elena Rybakina has advanced to yet another tour semifinal in 2024 and will next in Doha take on unseeded Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. The winner here will then proceed to face either Iga Swiatek, Victoria Azarenka, Naomi Osaka, or Karolina Pliskova in the final. Elena Rybakina has started the season in absolutely stunning form and is now through to her third semifinal. She has won two titles already and will be confident of securing an eighth career tour crown here. The Kazakh, who has won 13 of 15 matches so far this year, triumphed in Brisbane and Abu Dhabi. Currently, on a seven-game winning run, the world number four defeated Leylah Fernandez in straight sets in the quarterfinals.

Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova has defeated Rybakina before. She won their first and only encounter three years ago. This was during her run to the final of the French Open in 2021. The Russian, who has also had a strong start to the year, will hope to secure another win and possibly the same trajectory. Pavlyuchenkova has compiled a 12-4 record and nine of her wins have come on hard courts. The highlight of her season so far however came on an indoor surface as she made the semifinals in Linz. Pavlyuchenkova has not had the best of outings when it comes to the latter stages of tour events recently. She has lost her last three semifinals and not since the 2021 Roland Garros final has she advanced to a tour championship match. The 32-year-old defeated the qualifier, Danielle Collins in straight sets in the second round. This has allowed her to move a massive eight places in the live ranking to number 24.
