Dynamo Kiev host Benfica for the play-offs of the Champions League. The Ukrainian side keep defying all odds and expectations, demonstrating that no matter the circumstances, when there’s a will there’s a way. Being forced to play their home games in Poland because of the on-going war, Dynamo managed to stun Fenerbahce before progressing against Strum Graz to reach the last stage of the qualifiers, and all that while not having played a competitive game for the past eight months. This has now made it three wins in their last four competitive games, while they have not lost yet in any of the four qualifiers they have played this season. Dynamo have also played Benfica six timesbefore , with the most recent one coming last year in the group stages of the Champions League, where Dynamo lost 2-0 away yet drew 0-0 in Kiev.  

Benfica easily overcame the obstacle of Danish side Midtjylland in the last round, beating them convincingly with an aggregate score of 7-2. The Lisbon Eagles have also started the league in excellent fashion, winning their second game in two at the weekend, against newcomers Casa Pia. This only reaffirms the excellent form that Roger Schmidt’s men are currently at, boasting ten consecutive wins and losing just once in their last thirteen games. Benfica should also be boosted by their excellent campaign in last year’s Champions League edition, where they overcame Barcelona to finish second in their group and then eliminated Dutch giants Ajax, losing out in the quarterfinals against eventual finalists Liverpool. Their away form is also remarkable, having won all of their last six outings and conceding just a goal in those games.
