Congo DR vs Gabon Prediction & Betting Tips - AFCON

DR Congo are on a journey to recovery; their recent form hasn’t been great and as they start their journey through AFCON qualification, they will hope for a better run. They start it off with a home game against Gabon in Group I, which also has Sudan and Mauritania. DR Congo missed out on the last AFCON finals in Cameroon, though they did manage to get to the final round of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers. However, they performed dismally in the two-legged qualifiers and were eliminated by Morocco after a 5-2 aggregate loss. They head into this game winless in the last three matches and with only three clean sheets in their last 11 matches. DR Congo have five wins to show for their last 15 matches. It has been a bit better at home in the AFCON qualifiers though, the hosts going into this game unbeaten in the last four matches. In these four games, they’ve kept straight clean sheets.

Gabon’s only loss in their last six meetings with DR Congo was in a friendly match in 2015. These two sides were in the same group in the last AFCON qualifiers and Gabon won 3-0 in the return leg after the first ended 0-0. One of the scorers in their 3-0 win was Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, who has since retired from international football. Gabon, just like DR Congo, haven’t had many wins in their recent games, winning once in seven games. They go into this one winless in the last three, though their only loss in the last five matches came through post match penalties, against Burkina Faso at the AFCON finals. In their last seven matches they have one clean sheet and both teams have scored in four of their last five matches. Gabon have drawn four of their last five matches and are winless in four AFCON qualification matches away from home.
