The NBA’s worst team will host one of its hottest teams when the Detroit Pistons take on the LA Clippers on Friday. Detroit’s record of 6-41 is the worst mark in the league and has them sitting 15th in the Eastern Conference, three games behind the Washington Wizards in 14th. The Pistons have actually managed to put some victories on the board in the last few weeks, going 2-2 over their last four appearances since January 24th. After pulling off a shock 120-104 home win over the OKC Thunder, Detroit was unable to follow that up with a second straight victory. Instead, they would keep things close but ultimately fall to a 128-121 away loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers in their most recent appearance. The LA Clippers were unable to push their winning streak to six games after losing to the Cleveland Cavaliers 118-108 away from home. They were able to bounce back with a win as they recorded a 125-109 victory over the Washington Wizards on Wednesday in their most recent appearance. As things currently stand, the Clippers sit third in the Western Conference with a 31-15 record. This has them trailing the first-place Timberwolves by two games as they battle for the top seed in what appears to be a wide-open West. Los Angeles has been the best team since December 1st, posting a 23-5 record during that time frame. This has the oddsmakers drastically shortening their title odds as they now come in as roughly the fourth favorites to win the NBA championship. Paul George missed out in the win over the Wizards in what appeared to be a load management spot. He’s expected to return here with the Clips at close to full strength.
