Canadian players are going well in Shanghai this week. 23rd seed Denis Shapovalov hopes to get another win for Canada as he faces 15th-seeded Jiri Lehecka in round three of this outdoor hard court Masters tournament. Read our match prediction below. 

If Shapovalov can win, we will have an all-Canadian match in round four. That will be so if Felix Auger-Aliassime can get past Jesper De Jong in his third round match. Shapovalov has so far beaten unseeded Christopher O'Connell in Shanghai, losing just five games.

The Canadian has now won 19 of his 29 hard court matches played this year and is 23rd in the live rankings. He's won two ATP Tour titles on this surface in 2025 with victories in Dallas and Los Cabos.

Jiri Lehecka is 1-1 in previous matches against Shapovalov, both played on hard courts. The Czech has also made it to round three in Shanghai without dropping a set. He beat unseeded Quentin Halys 6-4 7-5.

That took his 2025 hard court record to 22-10 with one title won in Brisbane. His current form is good with a quarter-final in the US Open and then wins over Frances Tiafoe and Taylor Fritz in the Davis Cup. He's 16th in the live rankings.
