Unseeded Dayana Yastremska has made a strong start to her grass court campaign. The Russian faces British wild card Francesca Jones in round two of the Eastbourne International. Read our match prediction below.

Last week saw Yastremska be the losing finalist to McCartney Kessler in the Nottingham Open. That was her second WTA Tour final of the year for the 25-year-old. That run included wins over Leylah-Annie Fernandez and Magda Linette.

Her good form has continued in Eastbourne with another win over Linette who was the fifth seed. Yastremska won the first set and Linette who then retired when 4-2 down in the second. That's taken Yastremska to 41st in the live rankings.

That's 81 places above Francesca Jones who beat qualifier Greet Minnen in round one. The straight sets victory took her 2025 grass court record to 2-2. Jones also played in Nottingham last week and lost to Linda Noskova in round two.

Jones has played in the Wimbledon Championships four times but is yet to win a match. A wild card for next week has already been received by the British player whose best results have come on clay.
