Daria Saville vs Jasmine Paolini Prediction & Betting Tips - WTA French Open

Twelfth seed Jasmine Paolini will take on the unseeded Daria Saville in the first round at the French Open. The winner of this second meeting between these two will play Kayla Day or Oceane Dodin next. Daria Saville defeated Paolini last year on clay in the first round at the European Open in Hamburg. This was their first career meeting and she would go on to make the semi-finals of that tournament. The Australian will hope another win against Paolini, propels her to at least a similar deep run. Saville, who is coming off a qualifying exit in Strasbourg, is returning to Roland Garros after a year hiatus. The last time she played here she produced a third-round finish, equaling her best result in this major. Saville has compiled a 19-15 record and has earned eight of her wins on clay. This year’s Hobart semi-finalist, Saville starts her week ranked 84th in the live ranking.

Jasmine Paolini has never won more than one match at Roland Garros. But as she is having a successful season, the Italian will hope her sixth appearance sees her break this barrier. Though a 16-10 record doesn’t look all that impressive, Paolini has had big performances this year. She triumphed in Dubai in February to claim her first WTA 1000 title. The 28-year-old has also produced a quarter-final run in Stuttgart and has competed in week two in Melbourne, Indian Wells and Madrid. Paolini’s run in Madrid saw her move up to 13th in the world ranking, a career-high placing. She however starts things off in Paris having dropped two places to 15th in the live ranking.
