16th seed Danny Noppert faces unseeded Cameron Menzies in round one of the World Matchplay Championships. A tough match could be on the way for the winner with the seeded opponent being world number one Luke Humphries. Read our match prediction below.
This tournament is being played by the English seaside at the Blackpool Winter Gardens. Rather than using a sets format, this match is being played over the best of 19 legs. Danny Noppert is another of the several top Dutch players and has been as high as seventh in the world rankings.
The 34-year-old is currently ranked 16th, 18 places above his opponent. Noppert was a semi-finalist in this tournament three years ago and in 2017 reached the BDO World Championship final.
His last tournament saw him get to the last eight of a European Tour event. Earlier this year he got to the World Masters semi-finals.
Cameron Menzies is a former football goalkeeper but has had more success playing darts. This year saw him win his first PDC Players Championship event and he got to the last 16 of the World Masters.
