There's a big friendly clash in Glasgow this weekend as Scottish Champions Celtic host England's Carabao Cup winners Newcastle United in a prestigious friendly at Celtic Park. Will the Hoops continue their decent pre-season form, or will the Magpies swoop in to land a third friendly win over the hosts? Brendan Rodgers led Celtic to the Scottish Premiership League title once again last season, but his team fell short in the Scottish Cup, losing in the final 4-3 on penalties to Aberdeen in their final game of the season. Newcastle finished fifth in the Premier League to earn a Champions League spot, despite a disappointing end to the season. However, they did win the Carabao Cup, defeating Liverpool 2-1 in the final at Wembley.
Since then, Celtic have played four pre-season friendlies, beating Queens Park 1-0 away, then Cork City 2-1 away, before heading to Portugal where they lost 3-2 to Estrele Amadora, before a fine 2-0 win over Sporting Lisbon in their last game.
Newcastle have played just the one pre-season friendly, a behind-closed-doors friendly with Carlisle United at their training ground, which the Magpies won 4-0 against the newly-relegated Conference team. This will be their first real test for Eddie Howe's team in pre-season.
