Cameroon vs Brazil Predictions & Betting Tips (World Cup)
by Daniel Ngulu |
Cameroon have the toughest test of their 2022 World Cup campaign when they take on tournament favorites Brazil in their final game of Group G on Friday 2nd December at the Lusail Iconic Stadium in Lusail. Heading into this game, Cameroon have managed just one point from their opening two group matches and will need to win this to have any chance of progressing. With one point so far, they need a win by at least two goals and hope that Switzerland and Serbia draw. Brazil, meanwhile, are top of the group with six points and need just one more to confirm top spot.

Form Analysis
Cameroon had an impressive comeback in their last game to draw 3-3 with Serbia. The West African nation scored first but went to the break trailing 2-1 before Serbia added a third early in the second half. While it looked done and dusted for the Indomitable Lions, coach Rigobert Song sent in Vincent Aboubacar, who instantly announced his presence with a goal and an assist after marginally beating the Serbia offside trap on both occasions. The point earned was welcome but they have now gone winless in the last six matches and they have just one clean sheet in the last 10 matches. Twice in the last five matches, Cameroon have failed to score, while both teams have scored in three of their last five matches. They aren’t the strongest in attack though, having scored more than a goal in just one of their last seven matches. Seven of Cameroon’s last 10 matches have produced under 2.5 goals and in competitive action they have managed just four wins in 10 matches. At the World Cup they are winless in the last nine matches, only managing one draw and they have failed to score in three of five World Cup games. Cameroon will be meeting Brazil for the third time in a FIFA World Cup game, in the earlier two, they lost. Brazil, on the other hand, come into this game straight from a hard fought 1-0 win over Switzerland, which was their ninth straight win and 17th unbeaten game. In their last 17 matches, Brazil have registered 14 wins, and they have four clean sheets in the last five matches. In the last 10 matches, Brazil have let in just three goals and have won without conceding five of their last six matches at the World Cup. In three of their last four matches, Brazil have scored two or more goals. In competitive matches, Brazil have posted seven wins in the last 10, with eight clean sheets, while in five meetings with Cameroon, they have four wins and a loss.

Squad analysis
The news of Andre Onana’s expulsion from the Cameroon camp after a disagreement with coach Rigobert Song has been in the headlines this week and Cameroon will want to move on from that chapter with a win here. His replacement, Devis Epassy Mboka had a few shaky moments in goal but Cameroon will hope he grows confident in the role. Cameroon will be targeting another impressive showing from Vincent Aboubacar after his cameo resulted in a goal and an assist as they drew 3-3 with Serbia. His showing in that game should be enough to convince Rigobert Song to start him, though the headache for the coach will be how to field him alongside Eric Choupo-Moting and Carl Toko Ekambi, as they are all key for the Cameroon attack. Brazil on the other hand, are expected to rest their key players following the tough outing and win over Switzerland. They already have three players injured from the opening two matches – Neymar, Alex Sandro and Danilo have been ruled out of this game but Brazil have the right depth to cover for any absences.

Our Cameroon vs Brazil prediction
Brazil are the outright favorites here and they have a great run both in defence and attack. Very few teams at this competition match up to their standard and in their current form, compared to Cameroon’s poor returns in defence, we will back a Brazil win.

Other interesting tips
Brazil win to nil - odds : 2.2 at Bet365
Brazil have kept eight clean sheets in their last 10 competitive matches, a run that Cameroon haven’t enjoyed a lot, managing just three clean sheets in 10 competitive games. Based on this, we will back Brazil to win without conceding.
Under 2.5 goals - odds : 2.1 at Bet365
Brazil are outright favorites here and will be under no pressure having already advanced. They will have a few changes to the team due to that but their depth is still unmatched. Even at full strength in the opening two games, they’ve struggled a bit upfront to break teams and we expect Cameroon to make it tough too, so under 2.5 goals can pass.
