Burnley will take their survival battle to the final day of the season when they play host to Newcastle United. The hosts have 35 points, in 17th place and face 12th placed Newcastle United, who have 46 points. Burnley are out of the relegation zone by goal difference after their 1-1 draw with Aston Villa on Thursday. Going into the final game of the season, they only need to match Leeds United’s result against Brentford, since they have a massively superior goal difference. In their last three league games, Burnley are winless, and have taken just one point, while they’ve kept just one clean sheet in their last five matches. In their last home match, they suffered a 3-1 loss to Aston Villa but they’d won three straight home games prior to that. They’ll want to get back there but their biggest issue this season has been in attack. The Clarets have scored 33 times in the league, a tally only better than bottom placed Norwich’s. In the last five matches, they have managed more than a goal in just one, and three of the five have produced under 2.5 goals.

Newcastle United have been a different team in the second half of the season. At the close of the first leg, they were firm relegation candidates but now they can even play for a top half finish. It has been that tremendous for them and they come here on the back of a dominant game and win over Arsenal. That was their third clean sheet in the last five matches and they’ve won five of their last seven games. The only times they’ve lost in the last seven matches were against the top two teams – Liverpool and Manchester City. When playing teams that have struggled in attack in their last five matches, Newcastle have kept clean sheets and will be favorites for the same here. They’ve scored more than a goal in two of the five matches and three of the five matches have produced under 2.5 goals. Their away run has however not been the best, losing four of their last five, and only beating Norwich in that period. The Magpies have failed to score in three of their last five away matches.
