Burnley will be gunning for their first win of the season this weekend, when they get to host Chelsea at Turf Moor in the seventh round of league matches. Ahead of this game, Burnley are stuck in 18th place with one point, eight behind Chelsea, who have nine and in 10th place. The only semblance of success for Burnley this season came in the Carabao Cup, in matches against Sheffield United and Millwall. In the league, they have nothing to smile about, having registered just a point, this coming in the game against West Bromwich Albion, who are also not doing so well. The 0-0 draw with West Brom presented their only clean sheet in the league this season, while they have failed to score in their last two matches, and in three of the five they have played. In the last match, they were on course to holding Tottenham to a 0-0 draw but fell late in the second half to Son Heung-Min’s goal. It marked another game they had underperformed in the second half – the team has conceded in the second half in three of their five league games. Six of the nine goals they have conceded have come in the second half. At home in the league, Burnley have not scored a goal this season, and have lost both, which has stretched their winless run at home to five straight league games. They have no win over Chelsea in the last five meetings, and last season alone, they conceded seven goals in the two matches against Chelsea.

Chelsea have scored twice or more in their last six meetings with Burnley and are unbeaten in five matches against them. They head to this game on the back of a good win in the Champions League, having thrashed Krasnodar 4-0 in Russia. That match marked a return to winning ways for the Blues, who had drawn three straight games. It should have been more, had Jorginho scored a first half penalty. While Chelsea registered a good win, it was not entirely comfortable for them; three of their goals came in the final 14 minutes. In the last five matches, Chelsea have scored 11 goals and eight of these have come in the second half, a stat that should really worry Burnley. The Blues also seem to have found their solutions in defence after earlier struggling. They have four clean sheets in the last five matches, and three of them in the last three matches, and new keeper Edouard Mendy has a big say on that. This season, Chelsea have one loss, which came at home to Liverpool earlier in the season. They are unbeaten in their three away matches and will be very confident heading to Turf Moor.
