Bulgaria and Iran will face off in their second Week 1 match at the 2026 Volleyball Nations League on Thursday. Both these teams lost their opening match of the competition, which sees us leaning toward the points market here for our main prediction.
Bulgaria were handed a major shock in their opening match of this year’s competition, suffering a 3-1 defeat to Belgium, who were making their debut in the Volleyball Nations League.
Despite the result, Aleksandar Nikolov had an impressive match for the side, recording 25 points, while outside hitter Asparuh Asparuhov picked up 15 points, including two off blocks.
Bulgaria have won seven of their last 10 matches in all competitions but were beaten by this opponent 3-0 in last year’s edition of this tournament.
Meanwhile, after an impressive World Championship, Iran kicked off the Nations League poorly, losing their opening match to Brazil 3-1 on Wednesday afternoon.
