The Eastern Conference’s 11th-place Brooklyn Nets host the West’s 10th-place Utah Jazz for this Monday night matchup in the NBA. The Nets are having a difficult season and are on track to miss out on the playoffs for the first time in six years. With a record of 18-27, Brooklyn trails 10th-place Atlanta by just a half game in what is looking likely to be their only route into the postseason. A 10th-place finish would give the Nets a shot at making the NBA Playoffs through the play-in tournament. The hosts come into this contest off the back of a 106-104 win over the Rockets. The victory snapped a three game losing streak for the Nets and earned the team its 11th victory on home soil in 23 attempts. While their offense has struggled, Brooklyn has put together a string of solid defensive performances, allowing just 102.7 points per game in their last three.

The Jazz continue in a similar vein to a few other Western Conference teams with their “Jekyll and Hyde” type home and away performances. Utah holds a solid 15-6 record at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City but sees that mark drop to 9-17 when they take to the road. However, they’ll be hoping things will be starting to shift in that respect after picking up two straight road wins against the Wizards and Hornets. The offense was clicking in both of those games as they grabbed a 123-108 win over Washington and a 134-122 win over Charlotte. They can now make it three in a row on the road against a Nets team that is struggling for victories. Utah is 24-23 on the year which has them battling it out for a play-in spot. They’ll have eighth-place in their sights as they trail the Mavs by 1.5 games.
