Saturday in the National Basketball Association sees the Eastern Conference’s 11th-placed Brooklyn Nets taking on the West’s 11th-place Houston Rockets. The Nets will be hoping to get back to winning ways after an ugly stretch of form. A 96-94 loss to the Timberwolves in their last outing doomed Brooklyn to a third consecutive defeat and a seventh loss in the last eight games. The Nets record has thus dropped to 17-27 and they find themselves a half game behind the Hawks for 10th-place and a spot in the play-in tournament. Brooklyn’s offense has really struggled in the last few weeks which is a large part of their losing skid. In their last seven games, the Nets are averaging 105.9 points per game and have been held to under 100 points twice. The Nets defense has been a plus lately, allowing just 107.6 points per game in the last seven.

The Rockets are coming off a much-needed road victory after beating the Hornets 138-104. It was a fantastic second half performance by Ime Udoka’s men who outscored Charlotte 83-51. The victory has Houston sitting 11th in the West with a 21-23 record, putting them one game behind the 10th-place Jazz. Even though they beat the lowly Hornets last night, the Rockets’ away performances have largely been very poor. They are 5-15 on the road compared to an excellent 16-8 at the Toyota Center back in Houston. To make things even more difficult, the Rockets will be playing the second leg of a road back-to-back before returning back home to face the Lakers on Monday. Houston has struggled in this type of spot throughout the season as they are 2-6 straight up in the second of a back-to-back.
