For the second successive weekend, Brighton and Hove Albion have a south coast derby. The Seagulls are fifth in the Premier League and host Southampton who are bottom of the table. The big incentive for Brighton is that if they can win this match they will climb to second place in the Premier League. They'd also achieve that if they draw this match but scoring a couple of goals. Last week saw them beat Bournemouth 2-1 away and that followed up their recent home victory over struggling Manchester City.
Southampton put up a good performance against Liverpool but ended up losing 3-2 at home. The Saints remain bottom of the Premier League with just four points from 12 games. That total is 18 less than their opponents have managed this season. Southampton are four points adrift at the bottom and five from safety. With Chelsea, Aston VIlla and Tottenham to play next, they are in real trouble. Read our match prediction below.

Brighton - Southampton: Form Analysis
Brighton and Hove Albion have won six of their 12 Premier League games this season. The Seagulls have only lost a couple of games and both of those were on the road. Six home league matches have produced three wins and the same number of draws.
The last four home Premier League games played by Brighton have seen them score at least twice and they will fancy to do that against the Saints. A win over Southampton will make it three successive wins in the Premier League.
Southampton are in deep relegation trouble.
It is already starting to look bleak for Southampton. The newly-promoted side look destined to make an immediate return to the Championship. They have only had one league win this season and that was at home to Everton. The other ten league fixtures have produced just a home draw against Ipswich Town.
All six of their away league games have ended in defeat this season. Only three goals have been scored but 13 conceded. They are already five points from safety and the Saints are in deep relegation trouble.

Brighton & Southampton Squad Analysis
Brighton will continue to be without James Milner and Solly March plus Carlos Baleba is suspended. Lewis Dunk is among several players who are doubtful for this game. Tariq Lamptey, Adam Webster and Yankuba Minteh will also need to be assessed before the starting line-up can be named. Brighton have a strong squad though and have been getting good results despite the number of absentees.
Georgino Rutter may again play wide with Joao Pedro being allowed a more central role that should cause Southampton plenty of problems.
No return for Lallana this Friday?
Southampton could be without midfielder Adam Lallana for this game against Brighton. He used to play for the Seagulls but was injured in the first half of Southampton's home loss to Liverpool on Sunday.
Also doubtful for the match is former Brighton player Paul Onuachu. He also went off injured on Sunday. The striker is believed to have more chance of playing against Brighton than Lallana. The Saints will definitely be without Aaron Ramsdale who was signed from Arsenal during the summer. He suffered a finger injury at Wolves and is expected to be out for the rest of the year. Also out is Gavin Bazuna.
