Although Daniil Medvedev is the fourth seed in the Cincinnati Open, he is only just the favorite to win this match. Round three sees him up against in-form 27th seed Brandon Nakashima. After examining the statistics, our prediction is more than 0.5 tie-breaks.

In round four, the winner here will face either 13th seed Andrey Rublev or unseeded Nuno Borges.

Brandon Nakashima was the losing finalist in the recent Canadian Open in Montreal. That was his second outdoor hard court final of 2026 with two other semi-finals reached. He's now a career-high 22nd in the rankings.

His first match here saw him beat  Aleksandar Kovacevic in straight sets.

Nakashima has played a tie-break in three of his last five matches on this surface.

World number seven Daniil Medvedev has won two outdoor hard court titles in 2026. and was the runner-up at Indian Wells. Medvedev has won all three of his previous matches against Nakashima. They met in this year's Brisbane final and a tie-break was played.

He had lost two matches in a row before beating Marco Trungelliti in the second round of this tournament. Before that, he had lost to Botic van de Zandschulp in his opening match in Montreal. He has played at least one tie-break in two of his last three matches.
