Borussia Dortmund - Bayern Munich: Form Analysis
Dortmund finished a distant second to Bayern last season in the Bundesliga and have made a few attacking additions in the summer with the likes of Konstantinos Karetsas and Giannis Konstantelias joining the squad.
The Prussians ended their pre-season with a 2-2 draw against Roma and a 3-2 win over Arsenal in the Emirates Cup. Those form part of a run of three wins from their six friendlies in the off-season (W3, D1, L2).
Bayern scored 3+ goals in four of their last five German Super Cup games.
Will that run continue here? The Bavarians had a strong summer in terms of squad additions, as they added the likes of Ismael Saibari and Nathaniel Brown, while there were no major departures.
Bayern won the Bundesliga last season by smashing a record 122 goals in that campaign, with 18 different players scoring goals. Vincent Kompany’s side come here on the back of five consecutive wins in the pre-season friendlies. Excluding the barely believable 15 goals they smashed against Rottach-Egern, Bayern netted 11 goals in their last four fixtures.

Borussia Dortmund & Bayern Munich Squad Analysis
Dortmund will be without defender Nico Schlotterbeck, who picked up a ligament injury at the World Cup. Emre Can is also out with an injury, while Elias Benkara is yet to regain fitness after playing in the first two friendlies.
Manager Nico Kovac is likely to stick to his usual 3-4-3 formation with the central striker playing slightly ahead of the two attacking midfielders. Serhou Guirassy could be slotting in the middle, while Julian Ryerson could be running their attack from the wings.
Bayern’s Harry Kane indicated he may play only 45 minutes!
That could be bad news for the Bayern fans who would have loved to see the English striker from the start. He has scored three times in two games against Dortmund last season, but in his absence, it could be Luiz Diaz, Arijon Ibrahimovic and Ismael Saibari lining up in the front three.
That fits well in their 4-3-3 formation, but Bayern are likely to be without Jamial Musiala and Konrad Laimer. Musiala had collapsed in each of Bayern’s last two friendlies, while Laimer was back in training after getting injured in the friendly against Leipzig.
