Borussia Dortmund have had a stuttering season so far but after keeping their first clean sheet in nine matches, they will be keen on a stable run when they host Augsburg in the seventh round of matches in Bundesliga. Going into this game, Dortmund are fourth with 12 points, four behind leaders Bayern Munich, while Augsburg have five points, in 15th place. In the top 11, Dortmund have the worst defensive performance, having conceded 12 in six Bundesliga games. Even Augsburg have conceded less. They are coming from a 1-0 win over Sporting in the Champions League but both teams have scored in seven of their nine matches. In their last league game, Dortmund were beaten 1-0 by Borussia Monchengladbach. While Marco Reus recovered from injury to feature against Sporting, they’ve really missed Erling Haaland in the last two matches, and the disorganization in attack was visible in the win over Sporting. Haaland, along with Emre Can and Gio Reyna could still miss this game, and Mahmoud Dahoud is also out with injury though he’d have missed on suspension anyway.

Augsburg are having a worse start; they go to this game with just one win in their six league games and are just a point above the relegation region. They are the lowest scorers in the league so far with just two goals, while they’ve conceded 11. In their last game, Augsburg suffered a 3-0 loss to Freiburg, their third game in five in which they failed to score. The only time this season they have scored more than a goal was against fifth tier side Greifswalder in the German Cup. That game, their opening outing of the season, ended 4-2 in Augsburg’s favor. Three of Augsburg’s last five matches have ended in under 2.5 goals. In nine straight away league matches, Augsburg have no win; they’ve lost seven of the nine and in the last three they’ve failed to score.
