Meralco Bolts vs San Miguel Beermen Prediction & Betting Tips - PBA - Governors Cup

A top four position is on the line when the Meralco Bolts host the San Miguel Beermen in the PBA Governors’ Cup as the playoffs draw closer. The third place Bolts, with a record of 6-3, will be looking to cement their position while their opponents, the Beermen, sit fifth with a record of 6-4 and face a must win game if they want any chance of securing an advantageous top four seed. The way the Governors’ Cup is structured has it so the top four seeds only need to win once in their first playoff round to advance while the bottom four seeds are faced with winning two straight games. The Bolts are on a two game losing slide after losing 88-85 in their last game and face real pressure of dropping out of the top four - a potential disaster considering they started the season 4-0. On the other side, the Beermen bounced back from a loss with a 104-100 win in their last game and will be looking to head into the playoffs on a two game winning streak. 

There’s a lot on the line here and each team knows how big a win would boost the probability of a championship run. The Beermen are the team in the better form but the Bolts will feel extremely hard done to have walked away from the previous two matches with losses. Both defeats were by one possession, with the first a narrow one point loss to the Aces while their last was a three point defeat to Magnolia. It’s also important to keep in perspective the level of opponents that those two defeats came against - Magnolia top the tables and Alaska are a tough team with a 6-4 record. If a bounce had gone the way of the Bolts in either of those games and they walked away with a win, we would probably see them come into this game as favorites.
