After pulling off a big upset against Maccabi Tel Aviv in Belgrade, tournament invitees Besiktas will test their apparent resurgence against visiting Barcelona in the EuroLeague Round 3 fixture at BJK Akatlar Sports Complex this evening. Our prediction backs the hosts to come on top against a Barcelona side that has been unconvincing on the road.
Not many gave Besiktas a chance in Wednesday's Round 2 clash against Maccabi Tel Aviv in Belgrade, as they headed into the contest on the back of three consecutive defeats in competitive fixtures this season. Surprisingly, the Turkish side shot a staggering 57% from deep to stun the Israeli side 109–93, bouncing back from their opening-round defeat.
Notably, the Black Eagles finished last season with a perfect 9–0 home record in the EuroCup. They pushed Spanish league champions Valencia all the way in their EuroLeague opener at BJK Akatlar Sports Complex before losing by just two points.
Barcelona scrapped past Anadolu Efes in their EuroLeague opener, winning by seven points. They suffered defeat in their second fixture away to Dubai Basketball on Tuesday, going down 94–87.
Tuesday's setback means the Spanish giants have now lost their last two competitive away outings this season. It also marked their fourth consecutive EuroLeague defeat on the road, dating back to last season.
