Girona have never beaten Barcelona in a competitive match. This will be their sixth La Liga meeting with Barcelona. In their last meeting, Girona drew 0-0 with Barcelona and will want to do better here. Coming into this game, Girona thrashed Orihuela 5-2 in the Copa del Rey, taking their unbeaten run to nine games. They have eight wins in that period and will believe they have all it takes to stand up to the Catalan giants. The last time they faced a top three side, Girona lost 3-0 to Real Madrid. That was their last defeat, and remains the only one this season. Having failed to keep a clean sheet in their last six matches, defence is an area Girona will want to work on.
