Barangay Ginebra San Miguel’s first win of the 2026 PBA Governors' Cup came against Blackwater Bossing. They square off against the Bossing again in their rematch on Sunday. The Gin Kings have won each of their last six encounters against the Bossing across all conferences, four of them by impressive margins. Hence, our prediction backing them for a comfortable victory. 

It has been a disappointing first round for Barangay Ginebra San Miguel in Group B. They have found themselves outside the group’s playoff positions after winning just two of their five games. 

Their most recent outing ended in a shocking 88–73 defeat to Magnolia Hotshots. Nevertheless, the four-time Governors' Cup champions head into Sunday's contest as favourites, having won each of their last six encounters against Blackwater Bossing across all conferences, four of those victories coming by emphatic margins.

Sedrick Barefield scored a game-high 26 points, helping Blackwater Bossing recover from a 15-point third-quarter deficit to edge Phoenix Fuel Masters 106–100 on Wednesday. That victory ended their three-game skid and lifted them to third in the group with a 3–3 record. 

However, the Patrick Aquino-led team are likely to struggle to sustain that momentum on Sunday. One of their three defeats in the competition came against Barangay Ginebra, a result that marked their fifth loss in six Governors' Cup games against the Gin Kings.
