The PBA Governors’ Cup final continues on Sunday with game three of this best-of-seven series between the Meralco Bolts and Barangay Ginebra. The defending champions Ginebra were able to bounce back after a game one loss to take game two with a score of 99-93 to even things up at one game a piece. The Bolts will look to finally break through and win their first Governors’ Cup title against the team that has caused them so much torment over the years. This is the fourth time these two sides have met in the title deciding series over the last five seasons with Ginebra going a perfect 3-0 in those finals. Game three is set to take place at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay in what is sure to be an electric atmosphere as both sides look to go up 2-1 in this pivotal game three. 

Thanks to a huge 40 point explosion in the second quarter, Ginebra went into halftime with a commanding 18-point lead before a spirited Meralco comeback saw them cut the deficit to just five late in the fourth quarter. Ginebra star player Justin Brownlee suffered a twisted ankle at the end of game two but didn’t let it stop him from coming up big down the stretch, sealing the game with a dunk to put them up seven with a minute left and icing the game with three free throws in the final 30 seconds. The front runner for the Governors’ Cup best import award, Brownlee finished with a monster 36 points, 13 rebounds and nine assists as he put the team on his back yet again to lead them to victory. With the impending return of Ginebra forward Japeth Aguilar, game three presents possibly the last opportunity for the Bolts to take advantage of a less than full strength Ginebra team. The game two win for the Gin Kings provides Aguilar the cushion of having a few more days to recover with game four now looking like the most realistic timetable for his return.
