AZ Alkmaar will welcome Ajax on Tuesday for a KNVB Cup match. They play in the same division with De Kaasboeren 5th in the Eredivisie after the weekend while de Godenzonen is in 2nd. Will those league positions be confirmed in a Cup match? Read our prediction to find out.

The home side has won five of their nine games at AFAS Stadion so far this season, drawing one and losing three. They have already beaten Ajax here in recent weeks, winning 2-1 on December 8.

That match was 0-0 past the two-thirds mark before AZ opened the scoring after 65 minutes. In the last round of the cup, they beat Groningen 3-1 at home, getting on top in the second half. 

Ajax have won five of nine away from home, drawing two and losing twice, including the game mentioned above. They were unbeaten in 12 heading into that prior visit to AZ but have a quick opportunity to gain some revenge. 

It took Ajax a long time to break down Telstar in the last round of the cup before eventually running out 2-0 winners. That was a much weakened Ajax side of course but they will need their big guns here.
