Auxerre are charging for a place in Ligue 1 and after beating Sochaux on post-match penalties, they have the chance to square up against Saint-Etienne in a two-legged promotion/relegation playoff. Auxerre finished third in Ligue 2 and have shown great ambition in their push for a return to the topflight. They will be looking to give this a great start as they play the first leg at home, on the back of a nine-game unbeaten run. In those nine matches, they have six wins, and to book their ticket here, they saw off Sochaux on penalties after a 0-0 draw. That draw marked the first time Auxerre failed to score in 18 matches. At home, they are unbeaten in the last five matches, and have three clean sheets. In 19 home league games this season, Auxerre have suffered just four losses and this is a run that should give them confidence going into this game.
