Atletico Madrid stretched their lead at the top of La Liga to seven points on Thursday. They host 14th placed Valencia looking for their 15th win in La Liga this season. It didn't look like that was going to happen when they went 1-0 down at Eibar on Thursday, a penalty scored by their opponents goalkeeper. Atletico fought back to equalize and a late penalty by Luis Suarez gave them the three points. Seven points ahead and a game in hand, it's looking good for Atletico. The win was their fifth league win in a row since losing to Real Madrid. A win over Valencia will be their 13th in 14 league matches. Home form has produced eight wins and a draw with only two goals conceded. Only one of their last 35 home league fixtures have been lost and in the last 48 only Real Madrid and Barcelona have beaten them.

Valencia are struggling in the bottom half of the table and only two points above the relegation zone. They come into this game unbeaten in their last three league games with a win and two draws. Opposition hasn't been that strong though with two of the games against sides in the bottom five and the other against Cadiz who have only one win in their last five La Liga matches. Only one of their last ten league fixtures have been won. The recent win at Valladolid ended a run of six on the road without a victory. Only two out of nine have been won and just two of the last 20. They did recently get a draw at Barcelona but Atletico are in top form and can win this match.
