This is a rematch of last season’s NLDS which saw the Phillies win the best of five series 3-1. Atlanta, who are favored by many to win the World Series this season, face a must-win spot on Monday. Their highly-lauded offense never got going on Saturday as they slumped to a 3-0 loss in game one. Atlanta now faces the possibility of going down 0-2 with the next two games in Philadelphia should they fail to win here. The Braves had a fantastic regular season, improving on their previous campaign’s total of 101 to end the year with an MLB best 104-58 mark. However, Atlanta have now lost three of their last four overall as they desperately look to break out of this slump. They’ll start game two with Max Fried on the mound who finished the regular season with an 8-1 record and a 2.55 ERA.

The Phillies had to overcome the Cardinals in the Wild Card round to advance to this stage. They’re seeking a return to the World Series after being beaten by the Astros 4-2 last season. They’ve already stolen home field advantage away from Atlanta and will have the opportunity to close out the series at Citizens Bank Park regardless of the outcome of game two. Given how strong the Braves team is, Philadelphia will surely not be taking anything for granted. They finished the regular season with a record of 90 wins and 72 losses, a full 14 games behind their opponents today in the standings. The visitors have now won their last four games in a row following the game one win.
