Sabalenka's chances of winning this tournament have increased with the withdrawals of Swiatek and Rybakina. The world number two is yet to win the WTA Finals, but did reach the final in both 2022 and last year. Sabalenka has won 34 of her 40 matches played on this surface in 2026 with three titles won and two other finals. This tournament is being played at Indian Wells and that's one of the titles Sabalenka has won this year.
Her recent form has been a bit patchy with two of her last three matches being lost.
Karolina Muchova leads Sabalenka 3-2 in previous meetings, but they're 2-2 on outdoor hard courts with Sabalenka winning the most recent match in Brisbane ten months ago.
Muchova has a 24-7 record on this surface this year with one title won in Doha.
