Ajax vs Volendam Prediction & Betting Tips - Eredivisie

Ajax and Volendam will face off in an Eredivisie match at the Johan Cruyff Arena on the coming weekend. Ajax currently sits in fifth place in the league standings, while Volendam is currently in seventeenth place. Ajax were inferior for the majority of the Dutch derby against Feyenoord on Sunday, yet snatched a valuable point, courtesy of a scruffy deflected shot by Davy Klaassen. The Dutch giants have been going through a rough patch recently, going winless in six consecutive league games for the first time in the 21st century. This is a far cry from their usual form as they are known to be one of the most dominant teams in the league. However, they will have a chance to turn things around and make a statement win against a struggling Volendam side. They have a strong record at home and have won their past five home matches against Volendam, scoring a staggering twenty-two goals in the process. This would be a good opportunity for them to get back to winning ways and boost their morale ahead of crucial Eredivisie and European ties. 

Volendam has made some progress in the new year with consecutive league wins against Cambuur and Waalwijk. However, they were brought back to reality at the weekend with a 2-0 defeat against Excelsior. Their poor defense has cost them, with just one clean sheet in their last sixteen competitive games. Additionally, they have poor away form with five defeats from their last six on the road and eighteen goals conceded in that run. They will be facing a difficult task when they visit the Johan Cruyff Arena as they have not had the best of times there with nine goals conceded in their last two visits. Volendam will need to improve their defense and be more clinical in front of goal if they want to get a positive result, yet the nightmares of their previous maulings in Amsterdam could very well be repeated here against an Ajax outfit with a point to prove.
