The tour de France is into its last week of the competition with 6 stages left. Froome is in the lead but it’s all to play for as the gap is small. The cyclist have so far completed 15 stages, with 2 rest days. And the worst is still to come as they face 4 giant mountains on Thursday and Friday.

Chris Froome

Chris Froome Tour de France

Chris Froome has the yellow jersey but coming into the final week he has a lot of contenders surrounding him. He is only 18 seconds ahead of Fabio Aru. However Froom has a great Sky team helping him on, even when other teams try to make him fall. In the 15th stage he was able to maintain and keep the jersey even though he had a mechanical incident with his back wheel, closing the gap between the pack. The home audience were also booing him on Sunday, trying to encourage the French rider Romain Bardet. Chris Froome is rated at 4/11 to win with Bet365.

Romain Bardet

Romain Bardet Tour de France

Romain Bardet is the favourite to overthrow Froome for the podium. His odds are 7/1 with Bet365. Between him and Froome lies 23 seconds. This is very little and the mountains will benefit Bardet before the sprints occur. He will be hoping Froome will have another technical issue as this is how Bardet closed the gap last Sunday. Time is needed as quick as possible so putting a rider ahead of him in his team will be crucial if he wants any chance. He must throw himself at every slightest opportunity he can find. Maybe the French home crowd can lead him on to victory.

Fabio Aru

Fabio Aru Tour de France

The Italian is second in the standing in the last week of the Tour de France and the bookies rate him at 8/1 with Bet365. After losing team mates along the way he may need to look towards Bardet to team up and defeat Froome. He is in great attention of winning, only 18 seconds off the leader board. It will interesting to see how he will do in the high altitudes and this is the opportunity for Froom’s opponents to catch up on him.
