The ATP Finals consists of the current top 8 tennis players in the world, played in London, and it takes place this week! Read on who we think you should bet on to lift the title.

Who are the favourites?

Roger Federer ATP Finals

To qualify for the tournament you must be in the top 8 of the highest amount of points on the table. You get points by doing well in tournaments. The Grand Slam tournaments is where you can win the most amount of points, 2000 if you win. Wimbledon, the French, US and Australian open are the four Grand Slams. You receive 1000 if you win an ATP World Tour Masters tournament, like the Italian open, Miami Open or the Rogers Cup. Other tournaments are ranked at 500 or 250 points. Rafael Nadal tops the rankings with 10645 points, after winning the French Open, the US Open and competing in 1 tournaments. Roger Federer is behind on 9005 points. Only playing 11 tournaments this season, he managed to win 7, including Wimbledon and the Australian Open. A very good achievement considering the injuries he had. They will be huge favourites.

Who can challenge the favourites?

Grigor Dimitrov ATP Finals

Six other contestants can challenge the big dogs. Jack Sock is at the back of the pack, he just about qualified. After he won the Paris Masters, he was put down as an alternative. Stan Wawrinka pulled out through injury which meant Jack Sock could compete for his first time in the Finals. He will be the only American and the only non-European in the competition this year. David Goffin qualified after winning the Shenzhen and Japan Open. Grigor Dimitrov was victorious in the Western and Southern Open to claim 6th place. Dominic Thiem from Austria and Marin Cilic from Czhech Republic lie in 4th and 5th only 10 points between each other. Alexander Zverev from Germany looks to be the only favourite to win besides the two favourites. He won the Rogers Cup and the Italian Open, as well as the South of France Open, the BMW and the Citi Open, a very good year from him, at just 20 years of age.

Can Federer win his first title here?

Rafael Nadal ATP Finals

The eight contesters are drawn into two groups. In “Pete Sampras” group Rafael Nadal is paired with Dominic Thiem, Grigor Dimitrov and David Goffin. In “Boris Becker” Roger Federer will play Alexander Zverev, Marin Cilic and Jack Sock. The top two from each group will move to the semi-finals. On the 19th of November the final will commence. Roger Federer is the most successful performer in the competition with a total of 6 titles. Rafael Nadal has never won this tournament, reaching the final twice, one of them was a loss to Federer. Could this be his year? Or will he fail again? He will be the favourite on paper, but Nadal will be so intimidating if they both reach the final. His 6 titles will always be at the back of their minds.
