This is the sixth time the two sides are meeting in the Champions League, with Liverpool having won five and Madrid two of their previous five encounters. The two sides last met in the European Cup final in 1981, when Alan Kennedy scored just eight minutes to time to give his side a victory over the Spanish.  In total, Liverpool have won the title five times.

But Real, who have won the title 12 times before, are in better form and will become the first team to win three titles in a row, should they emerge triumphant over Liverpool. As far as team composition is concerned, Liverpool have a fairly young squad with none of the players on Jurgen Klopp's side having featured in a Champions League final.

However, Klopp has the most reliable strikers of the tournament with his players leading the scoresheet after netting a total of 40 goals. Twenty nine of the goals were scored by three players, Mohamed Salah (10), Roberto Firmino (10) and Sadio Mane (9). Still, Real have the best striker of the competition, Cristiano Ronaldo, who has sored a total of 15 goals this season.
